Calf & Rural Scheme – Some animals are born to make a difference
The PGG Wrightson IHC Calf & Rural Scheme combines the efforts and generosity of farmers with New Zealand’s largest rural supply company to raise funds for New Zealanders with an intellectual disability. Launched in 1984, the Calf Scheme is a vital fundraiser – more than 6000 calves are donated annually raising over $1.4m. Rural families rely on IHC. In many of these communities IHC is often the only organisation providing crucial support for people with an intellectual disability and their families.
Volkswagen and IHC enjoy a longstanding commercial relationship. To help the IHC support the local community, Volkswagen supplies the vehicles for the IHC fleet. This year the IHC’s two fundraising coordinators will be using new
Tiguans to visit farmers across rural New Zealand to encourage donations. These compact, nimble, efficient and environmentally friendly SUVs make perfect partners for the Calf & Rural Scheme.
