Now standard in the new Tiguan TDI, and optional in TSI, is the latest generation parking assistant which offers not only parallel parking but also perpendicular parking assistance. Park Assist utilises 12 ultrasonic sensors (4 in the front, 4 in the rear, 2 on the right, 2 on the left). The assist works in combination with the driver to make any parking situation easy.

The driver fatigue detection system is a first for Volkswagen and is available as standard in Tiguan TDI. It detects waning driver concentration and warns the driver with an acoustic signal lasting 5 seconds, a visual signal also appears in the instrument cluster recommending the driver takes a break from driving. The warning is repeated in 15 minutes if driver does not take a break.
