Care of the paintwork
 The Gloss of the CarRegular care may also serve as one of the conditions for the acceptance of warranty claims in the event of corrosion damage or when paint defects occur. The best protection for your car against harmful environmental effects is frequent washing and waxing. The longer substances such as insects, bird droppings, resinous tree sap, road and industrial dust, tar, soot particles, de-icing salt and other aggressive materials remain on the surface of the car, the more lasting damage they effect. High temperatures, e.g. caused by extreme solar radiation may aggravate the corrosive effect. Car Care Products The required car care products are available from Volkswagen Service ®. Among others Volkswagen offers a range of car care products which have been specially designed for Volkswagen paints. Please keep the instructions for use until you have used up the product. Awesome paint The paint is so durable that the car can be washed without problems in an automatic car wash. However, the actual effect on the paint depends to a large extend on the design of the car wash, the brushes used, the filtering of the wash water and the type of detergents and wax solutions used. If the paint work has a dull appearance or shows scratches after the wash, you should point this out to the car wash operator immediately. If necessary, use a different car wash the next time. After the car has been washed, the braking effect may be delayed due to the brake discs and brake pads being wet. You have to dry the brakes first by braking carefully. Further tips on care
Regular waxing protects the paintwork. Do apply a protective wax coating if water does not form droplets and runs off the paintwork when it is clean. Hard wax is available from Volkswagen Service ®. A good coat of wax protects the paintwork to a large extent from harmful environmental effects. It even offers protection from minor scratches. We recommend that you apply a hard wax at least twice a year as protection although you may regularly use a wax solution in the washing plant. Polishing brings new gloss to the paintwork Polishing is only required if the paintwork has become unsightly and when you cannot achieve new gloss by applying wax. The respective polish is available from Volkswagen Service ® If the polish used does not contain wax compounds, you have to wax the car after polishing.
