Campaign 92B6- Wiper Motor – Fuel Cooler – Vacuum pipe

During the constant quality observation process, Volkswagen AG has established that the following potential issues could occur within a limited range of Volkswagen Passat vehicles manufactured during 2005 - 2006.

In heavy rain, humidity can get into the wiper motor and cause the wipers to fail.
Additionally on some TDI models the holder for the fuel cooler may fracture resulting in a diesel fuel leak.
Also and specifically related to the 2.0 TFSI models an elbow piece of the vacuum pipe could fracture causing a loss of braking assistance resulting in significantly more force being required when applying the brake pedal. Please note there will not be a total failure of the brake system!

To date no cases are known to have occurred within New Zealand, however we recommend any customer who is concerned contact the nearest Volkswagen dealer to:

  1. Confirm whether your vehicle is or is not involved. This can be checked online by any Volkswagen dealer. Please note; many of the vehicles within the above range are not affected.
  2. If it is involved you are advised to make a booking for the checks to be carried out accordingly.
  3. If you notice any issues i.e. develop loss of wiper function in the rain, the smell or leaking of diesel fuel or loss of braking assistance you are advised to stop immediately and contact the nearest dealer and/or the 0800 577599 road side assistance program to have the vehicle checked before continuing your journey.
The required product improvements are:
  1. Installation of a wiper motor cover – Approx time 20 min
  2. Installation of rubber fuel cooler mountings – Approx time 30 min
  3. Installation of new vacuum pipe assembly – Approx time 15 min
Customers will be notified by mail as the necessary parts are distributed through out our network and the check and repair are, of course, free of charge to you.

Campaign 20K9 - Tandem Pump Bolts - Diesel with 2 valve pump injector engines

During the constant quality observation Volkswagen AG has established that faulty bolts may have been fitted on the fuel pump cover of your vehicle. In a very small number of vehicles these bolts can break, this will result in the pump housing not being tight any more and diesel fuel may leak. Leaking diesel fuel can affect the safety or your own vehicle and those vehicles behind you.

For safety reasons a check of your vehicle is necessary. The check of the fuel pump only takes a few minutes. If the bolts have to be replaced, this will take about an hour. Check and repair are, of course, free of charge to you.

Please contact your nearest Volkswagen Dealer to make an appointment.

*There is a small possibility that your vehicle is affected by a campaign not listed in these pages and for absolute conformation on recall status you will need to contact your nearest Volkswagen Dealer with you vehicle chassis number.
