Your current 3-Year warranty protects you against manufacturing and material defects and vehicle paint manufacturing and material defects. 

The Volkswagen 3+2 warranty policy will extend your cover to 5-Years/150,000* km for passenger and commercial vehicles. *250,000 km on Crafter models.

The 3+2 policy will take effect at the end of your current 3-year warranty, for seamless peace of mind motoring and is exclusively available to you as a valued owner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my registration number appear as invalid?

To qualify for this offer your vehicle must be New Zealand new, registered between 1st of June 2016 and the 30th of April 2019. When entering your registration number do not add any spaces between the characters or numbers, example ABC123 or abc123. If you believe your vehicle fits the criteria for the offer and the registration is still appearing as invalid, please contact us and our customer service team will investigate this further.

You are entitled to Volkswagen Roadside Assistance benefits (including flat battery, flat tyres, key replacement/vehicle lockout, and out of fuel assistance), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Does the warranty expire if I sell my car?

The Volkswagen 3+2 Warranty Extension Policy remains with the vehicle if it is sold, including in circumstances where you sell your vehicle privately, thus helping to maintain the residual value of the vehicle.

When does the warranty start?

The 3+2 Warranty Extension Policy term starts immediately on expiry of the three (3) year new vehicle warranty provided by Volkswagen, which starts either (i) when the vehicle is handed over to the initial purchaser by Volkswagen or by one of its authorised partners or (ii) on the date of initial registration, whichever occurs first.

Do I have to service my car with a Volkswagen dealer to be covered?

All regular servicing must be performed in line with Volkswagen specifications throughout the term of the 3+2 Warranty Extension Policy, it is recommended for this to be conducted by an approved Volkswagen service centre and any parts replaced during the course of a standard service or repair must be Volkswagen Genuine Parts. Failure to comply will exempt Volkswagen from its obligations in respect of this 3+2 Warranty Extension Policy. This shall not apply if the customer is able to prove that infringement of this obligation to ensure regular servicing was not the cause of the policy claim

*Offer is applicable to New Zealand new Volkswagen Passenger and Commercial models purchased between 01/06/2016 – 31/05/2019. The Volkswagen 5-year /150,000 km (or whatever occurs first) mechanical warranty begins at the end of your 3-year warranty. Warranty for the Crafter model is 250,000 kms. For further details, ask your local Volkswagen dealership. All pricing includes GST. This Policy does not affect or limit your rights under the consumer guarantees act 1993, but provides benefits over and above the act's guarantees.
