Our
Community

We're the people’s car

Volkswagen are very much a part of the community in which we operate. This includes long-term support of many charities and foundations, sustainable initiatives and athletes that are dedicated to making New Zealand better for all New Zealanders.

The IHC are a non-profit organisation in New Zealand who help support and educate families with children who have intellectual disabilities. The initiative was launched in New Zealand over 40 years ago and are currently supporting more than 45,000 families.

In rural New Zealand, looking out for one another is an important part of everyday life. That’s why Volkswagen New Zealand helps connect the scheme on a national level, by providing vehicles for both the North and South Island Coordinators.

‘‘Our team are out on the road in the Amarok connecting with farmers in rural communities. We personally visit and get around the back country in these ideally suited vehicles - bringing awareness and saying thank you to these generous farmers.” Says Greg Millar National Fundraising Manager

‘‘In the end, everything about the IHC Calf and Rural Scheme and the people who support it, is about having an impact on a group of people in our communities who need a helping hand. That’s it’s real impact and why we are so grateful.’’ Says Millar

Surfing New Zealand

With a shared passion for the open road, community and the outdoors, Volkswagen have proudly partnered as the official vehicle provider for Surfing New Zealand.

Delivering nationwide initiatives from community projects through to domestic and international events, the team at Surfing New Zealand travel to regions far and wide. They bring together the very best of locally grown surfing talent, and most importantly, surf lifesaving education so that Kiwis can enjoy the ocean in harmony together.

Great Barrier Challenge / St John

Five philanthropic individuals joined forces with the ultimate fundraising goal to help St John Ambulance raise over $500,000.

The quintet, made up of former world champion triathlete Rick Wells, former All Black Ian Jones and businessmen Richie Hart, David Mitchell and Karim Rostami, all swam relay-style from Great Barrier Island to Takapuna Beach in March.

Together through this meaningful initiative, Volkswagen and the team were able to deliver a new Volkswagen First Responder van with 4MOTION all-wheel drive to the Great Barrier community – allowing lifesaving services to become more accessible in rural, harder to reach remote locations.
