The Touareg R plug-in hybrid combines an electric motor and a TSI petrol engine. When the battery is sufficiently charged, you start in virtually silent electric mode, producing zero local carbon emissions. If you activate hybrid mode, you combine both drives for maximum system output of 340 kW.

Enhance the qualities of the Touareg R PHEV with the off-road package. Alongside seven standard driving modes, OFF-ROAD and SNOW can also be used to adapt the engine and gear settings to the conditions.
Performance
"E mode“ and "Hybrid“
Using the 4MOTION Active Control menu in the updated Innovision Cockpit the driver has direct access to the hybrid functions “E mode” and “Hybrid”. By touching “E mode”, the Touareg R plug-in hybrid switches to all-electric drive, and by selecting “Hybrid” mode, the driver unlocks the power of the V6 engine and Boost.
With a sufficiently charged battery the Touareg R always starts in the all-electric “E mode”. It works the other way round in “Hybrid” mode: If required, the driver uses the kick-down function to additionally demand the all-electric power as a “boost”.
Exterior
New front design
The updated front of the Touareg R plug-in hybrid gets its iconic look from the new HD matrix LED headlights with six lenses each and new signature light. A new front grille with horizontal light strip rounds off the look from the front.
Interior
Stylishly dressed in leather
Sustainably tanned with olive leaf extract, the Puglia leather package conveys an exceptionally elegant look and feel in the interior. Piping in ceramique and quilted contrast stitching in the shoulder area and on the insides of the doors lend the seats a special charm.

Safety
Light just where you need it
The HD matrix headlight not only ensures better visibility at night but also supports you while driving. Over 19,000 individually controllable LEDs are used for each headlight.
This means that your Volkswagen is able to project markings onto the road when the high beam is switched on. These make it easier for you to drive through narrow construction zones on the highway or to stay in your lane. The HD matrix headlight also improves the function of Dynamic Light Assist. This means that other road users and traffic signs can be blocked out even more precisely from your own high beam. When you start or park your vehicle, the HD matrix headlight provides a special light animation for you.
