The ultimate off-road adventure
Spirit of Amarok is a 4x4 off-road adventure with international status. From behind the wheel of an Amarok you and a mate have the chance to put your 4WD skills to the test against multiple teams in a range of challenges. The top team will go head to head at the global international championships hosted in South Africa to crown this years 2020 Spirit of Amarok winners.
Get ready for tough
The Spirit of Amarok New Zealand qualifying event has been postponed until further notice. Teams will be put through grueling 4WD speed tests, terrain and technical challenges, all of which will test the skills of even the most seasoned 4WD competitor.
The rally stage will see competitors race it out in the most demanding speed challenge. Then, drivers' precision and control will be pushed to the limits through the technical stage, where teams should expect the unexpected. Finally, the regularity stage throws our competitors a mix of both speed and technical ability that's sure to get their hearts racing, and their engines.
Go hard, Win big
The winning team using a points system will receive an all-expenses paid* trip to South Africa to represent New Zealand against 8 other countries at the International Spirit of Amarok finals from 2nd – 6th September 2020.
Let's take you back
Rally legend Sarel van der Merwe created the original Spirit of Africa Trophy event over 12 years ago, with a view to provide the "every day" driver a chance to test their off-road abilities in a competitive environment. He's won just about every motor racing and rally title on the African continent, and is a household name in South Africa.
The International Spirit of Amarok is plotted and closely overseen by him personally. From designing each speed stage, to setting the target time for every off-road challenge and planning the point allocation and deduction methodology, Sarel is the ultimate architect.
