Volkswagen’s new Crafter gets a digital upgrade for the worksite

Now more advanced than ever, Volkswagen introduces the latest technology in this new release. Designed with real-world business needs in mind, the Crafter combines smart digital tools, safety features and a modernised design with the precision of Volkswagen’s craftsmanship.
Inside, the Crafter has received a fully upgraded interior and includes a 10-inch touch screen display and infotainment system which is now standard across the range. The digital display positioned directly in front of the driver, shows key information such as speed and range. Drivers can effortlessly switch between different views to access navigation, phone calls, media, and other vehicle information. All conveniently controlled using buttons on the multifunction steering wheel for a more connected and intuitive driving experience.

Available in a wide range of body types: panel van, drop side, cab chassis, camper, and heavy-duty solutions, this generation remains fully customisable. Offering a selection of roof heights, wheelbases, and lengths so you can build your Crafter perfectly tailored to your needs.
Further interior updates include an electronically operated parking brake, with its switch thoughtfully positioned between the instrument cluster and infotainment system, making access easier and more convenient. For automatic models, the gear selector has been moved to the steering column, creating a cleaner and more ergonomic layout. Connectivity has also been upgraded with USB-C ports and includes an inductive wireless charging option for smartphones.
This crafter incorporates several driver aids as standard equipment, including Front Assist with autonomous emergency braking, Lane Assist for added stability on long drives. The Speed Limiter offers extra peace of mind on the road, while Rear Park Distance Control provides added confidence to help ensure a safe driving experience in all conditions. Models over 3.5 tonnes benefit from the integrated blind spot monitoring, moving-off assist, and turning assist offer additional support for larger vehicle operations, further enhancing on‑road safety and control.
The Crafter continues to offer front-wheel, rear-wheel, and 4MOTION all-wheel drive options to suit a variety of driving needs, whether you’re navigating city streets, highways, or rugged terrain. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual, and an eight-speed automatic specifically designed for rear-wheel drive models, providing smoother gear shifts. Its powerful four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engines deliver 103 kW, 120 kW, and 130 kW, combining performance with reliability.
Pricing begins at $91,000 including GST, plus on road costs and includes 3 scheduled services, which is standard across the entire Volkswagen range. Test drives are available at authorised Volkswagen dealerships nationwide.
